Janis Legend

At the end of 2018, a small group of musicians behind the scenes came up with the idea to independently create a professional theater show about the life of rock legend Janis Joplin. This was immediately followed up and after intensive preparations and auditions, a number of successful try-outs in theatres and festivals followed this year. This has resulted in a balanced and impressive theatre production that has been very well received by the audience and by the theatres.

The backing band, led by Bram Smeele, consists of seven professional musicians and the role of Janis is played in a fantastic way by singer Kira Kool, she tells the life of Janis in a musical way. During the one and a half hour show you will experience the eventful life of Janis and the atmosphere of the sixties, flower power and Woodstock. Of course the big hits like Me & Bobby McGee, Piece Of My Heart, Mercedes Benz pass by.

The backing band will make the sound from the sixties sound in such a way that you will experience a constant memory from that time and have a fantastic evening.

Money for Nothing was formed in 2000 as a tribute to one of the world’s best rock bands – Dire Straits. The abundant energy, excellence and musicality of their performance makes Money For Nothing a “must see” for any rock lover or Dire Straits fan. Frontman of the band is the brilliant guitarist and Mark Knopfler-like Aled Williams. Behind him is the line-up of experienced and top musicians who make this band a worthy tribute to Dire Straits. Aled and the entire band have studied Dire Straits thoroughly to bring their tribute as close to the real thing as possible.

With all the hits from their very first single ‘Sultans of Swing’ to ‘Brothers in Arms’, ‘Walk of Life’ and their last single released in 1992 ‘The Bug’ – also the legendary ‘Money For Nothing’ (ft Sting) which was the very first video to be played on MTV. The band also has versions of ‘On the Night’ and ‘Live @ The BBC’. The Money For Nothing stage show has been performed across Britain and the world, at all types of venues and events – from music festivals, theatres, nightclubs and stages. In 2010 they headlined the main night of Europe’s Biggest Tribute Festival. The band has also had the pleasure of performing as a show opener for the legendary Roy Wood during part of his Theatre Tour. In September 2011, they brought their show to India to perform at a sold-out concert where they headlined an event at one of Bangalore’s largest amphitheaters. Their special appearance was featured in the world’s largest selling English-language daily, The Times of India. Dire Straits are one of the best bands to ever come out of the UK, they have sold over 120 million albums worldwide and were the first stadium rock band in the UK. Their best-selling album Brothers in Arms was an international blockbuster that sold over 30 million copies, becoming the fourth best-selling album in British chart history. Brothers In Arms was also the first ever CD single and the first album ever to sell over a million copies on CD. Dire Straits also won numerous awards, including three Brit Awards, four Grammys and two MTV Music Video Awards, and in 2009 they received the Music Heritage Award.

Hi, I’m Mr. Martin, or Remco van der Schans (24-02-1989). A born musician, sports fanatic and multi-entrepreneur, I am now fully focused on my musical career.

I’ve been playing and performing since I was five years old, and in 2015 I formed the pop rock band Rascal. With our own songs and covers, we have had great success on stages on the pop circuit and at festivals. Because of the corona pandemic, we had to take a break, but I used this time to think about my future.

The result of this period is that I have been going solo as MrMartin since August 2021. With hundreds of songs in my repertoire and my raw voice, I want to introduce my music to the general public. My style of music is catchy, poppy and includes lyrics from real life, using real instruments a lot. My performances are energetic, interactive and above all: entertaining! I invite the audience to join in with my extroverted, colorful and a tad eccentric personality. It’s time for a big party!

Ever since I was young, I have wanted to touch people with my songs. I want them to enjoy themselves when they feel good and I want to help them in difficult times. I translate my personal experiences and feelings into themes that are recognizable to everyone. My songs connect and can become a precious part of someone’s life.

My songs are accessible, but never banal. I like authentic instruments, played by real musicians and backed by a juicy beat, so I can take the listener on an emotional journey. In addition to my energetic performances, I also have sensitive ballads in my repertoire
