The starting point is the musical collaboration with Tjeerd en Trijntje Oosterhuis within Total Touch, Berget grew through theater and concert tours with De Dijk, Candy Dulfer, Ruth Jacott , The Golden Earring and Karin Bloemen are among the most international soul diva within our borders.

As one of the 5 leading ladies of the ‘Ladies of Soul’, she blasts off the stage with her powerful voice. She stands far beyond the borders with the most famous artists on the biggest stages and enchanted her audience during her extremely successful theater tours. She starred as Maria in the television spectacle piece ‘The Passion’ and is widely praised as a vocal phenomenon with a wonderful career. With her ‘self-titled album’ Berget Lewis’ she finds her voice, but in the role of Effie White in the sensational musical Dreamgirls, Berget transcends herself.

Gospel and church choir

Like many other great singers, Berget also found her voice in the church choir, where she sang gospel at a young age. It was a good start, because she was already touring America with a gospel choir at the age of fifteen. In the late 1990s she founded her group Berget Lewis Gospel Train, with which she created a furore all over the country. Her career really took off when she joined Total Touch, after which her big breakthrough was not long in coming. At the beginning of 2007 she released ‘Deeper Love’, a dance track that was released in no less than seventeen countries. In that same year, together with Edwin Evers, she set the TV show ‘Just The Two Of Us’ to her will, she was known and loved by the general public in one fell swoop. Her debut album ‘Finally’ was therefore received enthusiastically.

On the stage

Being on stage is just one part of Berget’s rich life in music. She is also a prolific songwriter as well as a studio animal who gets the best out of herself and her fellow musicians. After years of musical and personal development, of working with inspiring musicians and enjoying ever-increasing success, her new album ‘Berget Lewis’ is where she always wanted to be. She writes, composes and sings the music she wants to sing, songs that come straight from her heart, music that shows what singer, performer and songwriter Berget Lewis stands for. “I sing differently, my music is different, you just see a completely new Berget”, the singer explains her surprising musical rebirth. “This album actually represents everything, who I was and who I am now.
